Richard Miller, a partner with Dafferns, one of the leading chartered accountants and business advisers in the area, made a visit to the company last week to present the award and praised the work of Pixel Toys. So far the business has been self financed by its founders, but Mr Wafer has not ruled out the possibility of outside investment at so me point in the future. “That offers the biggest opportunity for growth that we can see over the next five to ten years,” Mr Wafer added.
Pixel Toys will concentrate in future on developing games for increasingly powerful hand-held devices like smart phones and tablets, providing a console-type experience to people on the move. “This part of the world has a good reputation and Leamington is coming to be known as Silicon Spa,” said Mr Wafer. Warwick-based Pixel Toys - formed just six months ago - now has plans for rapid growth, the recruitment of up to 15 more people by the end of the year, and a move to larger premises to cope with expected demand. Super Little Acorns 3D Turbo has been launched this month and is designed for use on the Nintendo 3DS. A fledgling games company this month passed a significant milestone with the launch of a game for the Nintendo - one of the biggest players in the booming worldwide industry.
